POLYMER COMPOSITE MICRO-OPTICAL SENSING PLATFORM FOR AMMONIA (NH3)
Features
A new lab-on chip device for detecting ammonia in biomedical and industrial applications. The modification of PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) composite film is done by ninhydrin integration. The lab-on-chip device developed by integrating the ninhydrin-PDMS into a microfluidic device. It supports optical specific detection of NxHy groups (NH3 and amino acids). Light emitting diode and photoresistor are integrated to measure changes in absorption.
Advantages
- Miniaturization for integration in wearable devices (emerging market)
- Portable, small size, low weight
- Low manufacturing cost
- Disposable (or not)
- USB connection or wireless options
- High sensitivity (adjustable to ppb or ppm range)
- High signal to noise ratio
- Ammonia specific detection
